As
a child Skye didn't talk much. In his backyard there were chickens,
cubby houses, and the sharp pain of stepping on pine mulch. His
home was near the beach but he didn't enjoy swimming. Then one
day, by chance he started performing circus.
As he grew older he continued to train circus
and a love for letter writing, photography and singing budded.
Currently he writes 5 letters on average per month. He doesn't
really have enough money to develop his film but still takes
pinhole photographs - letting the film just pile up.
He and fellow artist Colby Cannon coined the term
"projects" to frame moments in their lives as artistic
excuses - a tactic for getting away with socially unacceptable
and personally incriminating behaviour. From this, during his
squatting years, the "Day of the Cupboard" was founded
on the 30th of May; where participants must sit inside their
cupboards as a celebration of hiding spots.
If he could live anywhere it would be the inside
of an old book. If he could own a business it would be a counterfeit
stamp racket. He once moved to another country for love but
found that the world was an overgrown beard full of birds. For
now he lets letters do the traveling.
